Overview

In breast disease treatment, physicians and patients are in need of improved diagnostic technologies and minimally invasive surgical procedures that provide better clinical outcomes and superior cosmetic results. Each year, more than 1.6 million women have breast biopsies. Over one million of them will undergo invasive surgery to have a biopsy and/or to remove benign or malignant lesions. Compared to other areas of medicine that have adopted less time-consuming, technologically advanced percutaneous procedures, breast disease treatment has not progressed in over 30 years. Rubicor’s mission is to provide technologies that simplify and enhance breast biopsy and tissue removal, and yield clinically superior results.

With Rubicor’s biopsy and tissue removal devices, a physician uses an enhanced procedure, coupled with ultrasound imaging, to make a small incision and remove the lump for diagnosis with reduced recovery time.

With this vision, Rubicor has developed and markets the following suite of products:

flash_smlFLASH
Minimally invasive single-insertion, multi-sample breast biopsy.

Flash is the only breast biopsy device of its kind, which allows the physician to easily take and view multiple samples with a single insertion and one-touch operation. Guided by ultrasound, Flash utilizes real-time visualization and automated sampling to obtain solid, contiguous biopsy cores. Other biopsy devices and techniques require several individual insertions into the patient’s breast to retrieve adequate samples for pathology analysis.

halo_smlHALO
Whole and complete breast tumor tissue removal in the comfort of the physician’s office.

The Halo Breast Biopsy Device utilizes an RF-powered loop and a small collection bag to excise and remove abnormal tissue in a percutaneous, office-based procedure. The physician makes a small puncture in the skin, inserts the Halo device and rotates the device loop around the tissue to cut and capture the targeted lesion to remove it from the patient’s body.

phantom_smlPHANTOM
Minimally invasive soft tissue excision device for surgical removal of suspicious tissue.

Phantom, an innovative, ultrasound guided, soft tissue excision device utilizing a unique RF-powered loop, is intended to facilitate precise lesion removal while significantly reducing procedure time and improving cosmetic outcomes. Because of its unique shape and cutting ability, the Phantom minimizes tissue volume, allows for faster tissue removal and creates a uniformly shaped cavity after the excised specimen is removed.
